La rete - Calafuria - Livorno La rete - Calafuria - Livorno

Classical dive at Calafuria near the Boccale castle, characterised by the presence of a lot of coral and lobsters although small ones. Known by the old scuba divers as net diving, because of the pieces of net left abandoned by some fishing boats amongst the rocks. With a bit of luck and diving in the early hours of the morning, it is not difficult to find sea bream and in the last few years also Mediterranean barracuda, smaller versions of the tropical cousins which are just as beautiful to look at. There are a great deal of sea sponges, anemones and spirographis. The unusual scenery when you reach the base of the wall is worthy of note. There are several ravines, caves and pieces of net which have now become a part of the ecosystem. Keep an eye on the diving data (air/time) because, considering the depth, the safety limits are easily reached.
